HEART BURN

The esophagus connecting mouth and stomach is made up of muscles to ensure that the food does not move upward at any cost. These muscles are located at the joint of the esophagus and the stomach. Also there is a muscle which separates the chest and abdomen. This also helps to move the food and keep the food constantly in the stomach till digestion.

Cause:
The job of the stomach is to combine the food, acid and other kinds of special liquids called enzymes and form the digestion process. But the stomach has a lining on the surface in order to safe guard itself from the acids in the food processed for digestion. At certain causes the food is unknowingly pushed upwards into the esophagus. But the esophagus does not have these types of protection as its job is to push the food downwards only. Therefore the acids in the food cause a type of inflammation in the esophagus.

The heart burn is caused due to the problem in the structure which results in the pushing of the food upwards in to the esophagus and the production of excess of acids in the stomach. Even the food intake or the medical intake can cause the heartburn.

Another one cause of the heart burn in women is the pregnancy which can cause an increase in the pressure of the abdomen and which in return can affect the LES function and change to reflux.
